Save the Sound
Dedicated to preserving and protecting the land, air, and water of the Long Island Sound region, Save the Sound uses legal and scientific expertise, advocacy, and community connection to achieve results that benefit the environment for current and future generations.
Website www.savethesound.org
Save the Sound needed a modern, accessible, and engaging website to connect with their target audiences. We redeveloped their online presence to be highly informational yet user-friendly. The logo provided inspiration for the curves, wavy lines, and other organic shapes used throughout the site, representing both water and land. High-impact imagery was also incorporated to bring conservation work to life.
Visitors can explore the organization’s departments, programs, and projects, which are presented in easily consumable sections, and access news, publications, and events. Interlinking across the site architecture makes it easy to trace their work from initial efforts through lasting accomplishments.
Hub Pages
To cover the breadth of what the organization does, Save the Sound’s departments, programs, projects, and resources were arranged into four central areas or “Hubs” (Sound & Rivers, Wildlife & Habitat, Climate & Air, and Communities). These Hubs act as entry points for site visitors to dive into Save the Sound’s efforts, advocacy, and achievements.
Projects
To communicate the impact of Save the Sound’s work, this section of the website presents a project-based feed of current and past endeavors. The catalog is searchable and can be filtered by department, program, and project status. Each project page includes detailed information about the mission, work, and outcomes, with links, images, and related content.
Landing Pages
Helping visitors understand Save the Sound’s mission and explore ways to get involved was an essential goal of the website redevelopment. We created a variety of landing pages that organize and streamline information across the site, engaging visitors and directing them toward critical calls to action.
