The Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center (HLRCC), a 40,000 square foot facility dedicated to outpatient cancer care, opened in 2002 as a partnership between Saint Mary's Hospital and Waterbury Hospital.

Offering the most sophisticated technology and equipment, the latest treatments, and a comprehensive multidisciplinary group of medical and social service practitioners, the HLRCC wanted a new website that reflected its state-of-the-art capabilities but also offered the warm feel and comprehensive support that HLRCC itself provides.

“The website was created with one goal in mind: to empower patients and our community through education,” said Deborah Parkinson, The Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center’s Operations Manager. The new site offers visitors abundant and easy-to-use resources to help them learn more about their cancer diagnoses, available treatment options, and cancer prevention news.

The new site, built in Web Solutions Content Management System v4, has an intuitive navigation, a modern design, and is fully responsive.

“Now that many people are using tablets and phones to access information, we are pleased that the website is mobile-friendly,” said Tom Belzek, Leever’s Finance Manager. “Before we worked with Web Solutions, our site could only be viewed on a desktop or laptop. Now, the information reformats depending on the device that is being used which means we can reach more people.”

“We are also very happy with the updated calendar feature,” Deb Parkinson added. “Now our patients and families can look at the upcoming events in list or calendar format, and they can also select events by category (for patients, for providers, community events) and see only those events that pertain to them.”

“We found everyone at Web Solutions to be very professional and extremely knowledgeable,” reported Kevin Kniery, Executive Director of the Leever Cancer Center. “They took the time to learn about our center and what we were trying to accomplish with our website.  They even provided a presentation to our Board of Directors that was very helpful. They have a deep understanding of both the design and technical aspects of creating a website. The final product is better than we imagined.”
