The City of Meriden, a community of 60,838 residents located at the “Crossroads of Connecticut” between New Haven and Hartford, wanted a new website to reflect its ongoing revitalization and to create a primary source for information and services to residents, business owners, and those with an interest in living and/or working in Meriden.
The City of Meriden had a site built in v2 of the Web Solutions Content Management System. In addition to being upgraded to the current platform, the new site needed to be interactive, simple to use, have an updated look-and-feel, and be mobile-friendly.
The new site, in addition to being fully responsive and offering a fresh new design, gives users an easy way to find what they’re looking for with the “How Do I” section—a custom-built module that lets users select various actions, including apply, find, participate, pay, register, reserve, or report, and see a list of options.
The site also offers two calendars—community and municipal. Site visitors can click to see the calendar they want, and can also submit events.
A citizen request form enables users to make non-emergency requests for things like tree-trimming, potholes, graffiti, and traffic sign malfunctions, and have their requests automatically routed to the correct department for attention.
